This scholarship application is for students that are currently enrolled in the independent study program. We offer these scholarships each quarter. Once the scholarship application is completed and submitted there is no need to resubmit for the next quarter. All scholarship applications are held open and automatically resubmitted each quarter so long as the student is still actively enrolled and meets other eligibility requirements listed below. Active enrollment for this scholarship is considered taking and completing at least one class each quarter to remain eligible. Scholarships are awarded if there are enough applicants in a quarter and can be awarded for multiple quarters in a row. Awards cannot be carried over to future quarters.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship you must:
- Identify as a woman of color as this is an underrepresented group in maternal and child health.
- Create a free account on the GoMidwife website and then submit your application to enroll in the Independent Study Program.
- Be accepted into the Independent Study Program
- Complete at least one quarter in the Independent Study program with a passing grade in all classes of 80 or higher.
- Enroll in at least one class for the upcoming quarter
- Submit the scholarship application at least four weeks prior to the start of the next quarter. If the scholarship application is submitted after this deadline then it will not be considered until the following quarter.
- Failing to complete enrolled courses with a passing grade in any quarter where a scholarship has been awarded will remove the student from future scholarship eligibility. Additionally, students must maintain and follow the student code of conduct including in-person and online postings, behavior, and following the standards of the school, attend all live teachings and zoom meetings outside of being excused for a birth with preceptor acknowledgement, and maintain a 3.0 GPA.
Notification
- Individuals that have met the above criteria are eligible for the scholarship. If a scholarship is awarded to the individual they must respond to the award email confirming they are accepting the scholarship. Students must then sign the scholarship acceptance agreement and return the agreement to the Administration prior to the start of classes. Any scholarship awarded will have a notification sent to the student that has been awarded the scholarship within two weeks of the start of the next quarter.
Award
- This scholarship award covers tuition for up to three courses in the quarter in which it is awarded by waiving the tuition due for that student in the quarter the scholarship is awarded. This is not a monetary scholarship and no money will be awarded to the student. No refunds will be granted to the student if they choose to withdraw from a course covered by the scholarship. A student will remain eligible to receive the scholarship again if they continue their enrollment and remain active under enrollment guidelines as well as continue to meet scholarship eligibility guidelines.
